Wrapping up my thoughts on the Budget – Richard Pipe, Searchlight Director

For me, this Budget was mostly about pensions, giving us the most radical reforms I’ve ever seen. Osborne called this a Budget for makers, doers and savers. I’d call this a budget for financial planners and wealth managers as I expect more and more people will want to consult Searchlight advisers about their pension options.

Clearing many of the restrictions that made pensions unattractive and inflexible for many years has put them now on the radar of every worker. We welcome these changes.

Other than the above, the Budget threw up no great surprises. It was well received by the global markets. I would not be surprised if the UK gets back its “AAA” rating by this time next year. It is great to have some common sense politics at work.
